Geographical conditions required for the cultivation of wheat: Wheat is a Rabi crop in India.  In India, it is sown in the months of October-November and harvested in March.  The following conditions are necessary for its cultivation

(1) Temperature: Wheat is a product of the temperate zone.  For that the temperature of 10 °C at the time of sowing, 15 °C while growing, and 21 °C during ripening are suitable.  Frost is harmful.

(2) Normal rain: – For this, 50 to 75 cm of rain is beneficial.  Precipitation of rain during ripening is harmful.  Rainfall 15 days after sowing and 15 days before ripening is very beneficial.  Irrigation is required in areas of low rainfall.

(3) Soil:- Loamy soil is best for wheat.  Its yield is good even in smooth and black soils.

(4) Surface:- The surface should be flat but slightly sloping so that water does not accumulate in the fields.

(5) Cheap labor:- It is easy to use machines in the cultivation of wheat.  Where the use of machines is not possible, cheap and skilled labor is required.

(6) Manure:- Natural and chemical fertilizers are required for the cultivation of wheat.  Manure of saltpeter and ammonia sulfate is beneficial.
