Ans.

Influence of Raw Materials and Markets in Localization of Industries:

Procurement of Raw Materials: – Almost any industry is established where the raw material required for it is easily available.  For example, the main reason for the growth of the jute industry in West Bengal, the cotton textile industry in Maharashtra, and the sugar industry in Uttar Pradesh is the availability of raw materials there.  Such industries, whose weight, and size of manufactured goods are significantly reduced in comparison to raw materials, those industries are established only at the places of receipt of raw materials, otherwise, the cost of transportation is high.

Market Facility: – Near the market is necessary to sell manufactured goods.  The closer the market is, the lower the traffic expenditure.  One of the main reasons for the development of the cotton textile industry in Kanpur is the presence of a dense population around it, because of which the finished goods are easily consumed there.
