Explain why a delta is formed at the mouth of a river?
WB Madhyamik 2018
Ans.
Delta: – The speed of the river slows down in the lower and delta parts of the river, as a result of which the material brought by the river starts accumulating at its mouth. In this way, a triangle-shaped terrain is formed at the mouth. Therefore, delta is formed due to excessive deposition of sediments at the mouth.
