Historical importance of Queen’s Declaration (1858 AD): – The following is the historical importance of Queen Victoria’s manifesto.

(1) On the basis of this declaration, India no longer belonged to any particular company but became a colonial part of the British government. This gave the Indians an opportunity to raise their demands and problems in the British Parliament.

(2) Through this declaration, Indians got back the right of adoption and got rid of Dalhousie’s state usurp policy and Wellesley’s policy of subsidiary treaty.

(3) Through this declaration, the British government made a commitment to abide by the company’s earlier treaties with the princely states.

(4) Through this manifesto, the British government gave a message not to interfere in any religious and social issue of Indians.

(5) By accepting the above facts in this manifesto, the British government saved its colonial empire from disintegration for the next 90 years, because there was no major mass movement after that.
